Saturday 5.28.22, Senator Persaud, in partnership with Kings Plaza Shopping Center and Assemblymember Jaime Williams, hosted the Brooklyn Prom Project: Promwear Giveaway at Thomas Jefferson High school.
Staffers Jennifer and Eileen and a team of volunteers were there to assist the more than one hundred and fifty students from across the district who were able to receive the star treatment and get items including dresses, tuxedos, shoes, and accessories to complete their prom looks.
A hearty Thank You to Dawn Simon of Kings Plaza Shopping Center, DELTA RHO Omega Chapter-Brooklyn & Sarah's Angels. Thanks to the New York City District Council of Carpenters Training Center Carpenter Contractor Alliance of Metropolitan New York for building the temporary dressing rooms and to Dr. Tomlin-Reid, Principal and teachers at New York City Department of Education High School For Civil Rights, and all volunteers, including custodians.
Thanks to Kamla Millwood, who donated dresses and taught the students the various poses to showcase their prom wear, and Spadez Dii Selectah for the music that kept everyone moving.
