Dear Neighbors,
There are weeks in public service when the pulse of a community beats so clearly, so insistently, that it becomes impossible not to hear its call. This past week was one of them. Across District 31—from the bustling heart of Washington Heights to the proud ridges of the northwest Bronx—our neighbors stood firm, reminding us that progress is neither a stroke of luck nor a gift from elsewhere. It is a choice we make, together, every single day.
We saw that truth in moments both quiet and bold: when residents refused to be shaken by intimidation; when families and educators gathered to defend the promise of their children’s future; when everyday New Yorkers chose courage over silence. These actions reflect a principle that guides every fight I bring to Albany: justice is not a headline. It is a practice—one that demands presence, persistence, and policies shaped by the lived realities of the people we serve.
In a district defined by its languages, histories, and dreams, our diversity is not something to manage—it is the engine of our collective strength. When we choose solidarity over separation, when we refuse to let fear fracture our bonds, we create the conditions where meaningful change can take root. Legislative progress doesn’t emerge from the halls of government alone; it grows from neighbors who stay engaged, from communities that insist on dignity, from a district that knows democracy only works when people power it.
So even as challenges continue, we move forward—shaping a New York that reflects the people who call it home. A New York where resilience is met with resources, where difference becomes power, and where every resident—regardless of zip code—knows they belong. Each step forward may be hard-won, but each step is also a testament to you: progress lives because our community refuses to give up on one another.
Progress is never promised. But time and again, District 31 proves that it is possible—beautifully, defiantly, powerfully—when we choose each other.
As we look ahead, may you find rest where your spirit asks for it, strength where the road demands it, and renewed purpose for the work we share. Thank you for your solidarity, your resolve, and your belief in the future we are building—policy by policy, hand in hand.
In the sections below, you’ll find key community updates, resources, and job opportunities.
In Unity,
RJ
