Taiwan Heritage Day

On Wednesday, May 28th, the New York State Senate proudly adopted Resolution J823, memorializing Governor Kathy Hochul to proclaim May 28, 2025, as Taiwan Heritage Day in the State of New York. The resolution, which is strongly supported by several members of the Senate, acknowledges the enduring contributions of Taiwanese Americans to New York and the United States.

Community Involvement

Spring Health Fair

Thank you to the Chinese-American Planning Council for hosting a successful Spring into Health Fair at IS 220 this past Saturday. It was a pleasure to join community members, local partners, and dedicated organizers in promoting wellness and access to vital resources. I’m grateful for the opportunity to support CPC’s continued work uplifting the health and well-being of our neighborhoods.

Zongzi Making Event

It was a joy to join the Better Brooklyn Association’s Dragon Boat Festival Zongzi-Making Event this past Saturday. Watching children and families come together to celebrate tradition, share stories, and learn the art of making Zongzi was both heartwarming and inspiring. Events like these help keep our cultural heritage alive while strengthening community bonds- and I’m proud to support that work.

Asian Community Center Children's Carnival

I was extremely proud to attend the 2nd Annual ACC (Asian Community Center) Children's Carnival- a joyful event dedicated to children and families in our community.

The carnival featured game booths, bounce houses, petting zoos, fishing games, and live performances- truly a blast.

Hope to be there next year!

AAPI Heritage Parade

I want to thank everyone who showed up for NYC's 4th annual Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Parade on Sunday. It was a pleasure to see other elected officials march with us. Proud to be there!

Coyle Street Protest

Also, this past Sunday, I marched with the local community in protest against the building of the proposed homeless shelter on Coyle Street and the building of lithium-ion battery storage facilities with such close proximity to dense residential neighborhoods. I want to give special thanks to the many neighborhood patrols and police officers who came to help with the large crowds.
