At the Brooklyn Children’s Museum, Soul Science Lab will perform as part of the ColorLab LIVE performance series on Saturday, October 5 at 4:30 p.m.  Soul Science Lab are a Brooklyn-based music and multimedia duo who use music to guide visitors on an Afro-futuristic journey. BCM admission is free from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on October 5 as part of this special event.

Tastes of Brooklyn is offering culinary walks to enjoy food and drinks from local restaurants in Carrol Gardens and Cobble Hill on Saturday October 5th and in Flatbush on Sunday, October 6. Tickets are available here

Bookfest at BCM! is a partnership with Greenlight Bookstore that will take place on Sunday, October 6 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Visitors who come dressed as their favorite book characters will be admitted free during those hours. As always, BCM provides free admission on Sundays from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The Caribbean Women's Health Association is offering lots and lots of resources for new mothers! They will hold their next Breastfeeding and Safe Sleep Workshops on Friday, October 11th. They're also offering Breastfeeding Support Groups every third Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Finally, they're holding ABCs of Parenting workshops throughout October. Are you ready to join with your neighbors to win better living conditions? You can join HOPE (Housing Organizers for People Empowerment) to fight for tenants' rights! They meet the first Thursday of every month, from 6:30-9pm at Brooklyn Legal Services, 1709 St. Marks Avenue, next to the Dollar Tree. Food is provided!   

Elephant Circle's Birth Worker of Color Scholarship application cycle is now open through October 20, 2019- 12pm MST (2pm EST). Elephant Circle seeks to assist self-identified Birth Workers of Color with scholarship funds to support skills training, education, travel and books/supplies. They also seek to support organizations which are lead by and support people of color in prenatal, birth and postpartum practices. At this time scholarship funds are to be awarded in the amount(s) of $250-$500.

Adult education classes: CAMBA’s Education Center offers assistance to individuals looking to learn English, or enhance their listening, speaking, reading, writing, and numeracy skills in English.  We help with preparation for the TASC or High School Equivalency Exam, as well as help finding a job or completing citizenship applications.  All classes are computer-assisted and civics-based.
